2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois
The Effingham Polar Plunge was created in 2004 and raises money for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. This year's Polar Plunge will be held in Effingham at Lake Sara on Saturday, February 22 at noon.
The concept is simple. Participants raise a minimum of $100 in donations from friends, family, and co-workers in exchange for plunging into icy cold waters. This support provides critical funding for thousands of young athletes of Special Olympics Illinois so they can compete in year-round sports and training, health and wellness, and leadership programs.
After reaching a fundraising minimum, each plunger receives an exclusive 2024 Polar Plunge sweatshirt, plus the chance to win additional prizes for raising more money.
School groups can participate in the Cool School Challenge: a friendly competition to raise the most funds for the Special Olympics Athletes. Cool School and College Cup Teams that raise the most funds for Special Olympics Illinois can win amounts of $1000 and $500 back to their school or collegiate group.
